Therapy Services

Individual

Collaborate one-on-one with a therapist to explore your needs and finds ways to create the change you want in your life. Therapy focuses on strengths as well as areas for future growth. We bring a holistic view to your life, exploring all the areas that may be impacting your well-being, including: family, social, spiritual, physical, sexual, and financial health.  At the heart of therapy is a trusting therapeutic relationship, which provides a foundation for exploring the directions you may want to take your life.

Adolescents

Therapy with adolescents requires a keen awareness of the unique developmental challenges that occur during this rapidly changing time of life. Significant events may have a wide variety of effects on youth, depending on their level of cognitive, social or emotional maturity. A hallmark of adolescence is the advent of “abstract” reasoning abilities, and many teens can respond to more traditional talk therapy when dealing with areas of identity formation. Therapy includes balancing a strong therapeutic connection with teens, while developing a working relationship with parents. The intention to create relief, support, and balance as teens navigate the stresses of school, family or friends.

Relationship Counseling

Couples frequently seek counseling to repair or restore the quality of their relationship. By focusing on the development of communication skills and assertiveness, couples can learn to shift from engaging in power struggles, to having more open dialogue with one another. This allows couples to achieve better problem solving skills, and to learn to negotiate in a respectful and constructive manner. Therapy often helps clients navigate the treacherous waters of topics including finances and budget, parenting, intimacy and connection. Recommended readings, homework and specific behavioral assignments may be part of a couple’s therapy. Therapists working with couples frequently have a unique set of training experiences in addition to training in individual psychotherapy.

Family

In our society, family constellations appear in myriad forms. We respect the unique structure of each family system and the integrity of the individual family member. Therapy frequently focuses on communication patterns, working to develop open-channeled communication to enhance cooperation, compromise and problem solving. Family members may tackle ways to manage the competing demands of work, school, and recreation. Family therapy can also be an important space to learn coping skills for dealing with major transitions and losses.
